Mark was inspired to learn the drums after watching Ringo Star and the Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show. He started playing in his 6th grade concert band (1966), started playing in bands in 1967 and was playing professionally (getting paid) by 1970. He continued into college as a music major studying percussion and vocals. During this time he played and sang in several local bands including a popular teen age country band who recorded and self released a live LP.

Mark dropped out of college in 1973 to tour with a popular cover/show band --Wizard -- playing gigs up and down the West Coast. He spent a short time in LA/Hollywood/San Diego area playing professionally and performing in local rock bands.

Mark has played for a long list of Northwest bands such as "Still Water", "Stone Cold", "The Works", "Big Daddy and The Cruisers", "In The House", "The Resonators", "Boom Town", Electric Hemingway, and Michele D'Amour and The Love Dealers, playing Rock, Country, Blues and "Fifties (greaser)", and The Bavarian Beer Garden Band (Polka).

Mark is currently with two great bands; Third Rock and New Venture. Third Rock is a newly formed three piece, classic rock band, New Venture is a four member acoustic/vocal based classic rock and country rock band targeting dinner shows and week day gigs.
